IFS wins Pakistan tractor contract

IFS South Asia, the Sri Lanka headquartered regional operations centre for the global Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions provider IFS launched a multi-million rupee project to implement and service an automotive solution for Millat Tractors Ltd., Pakistan's biggest manufacturer of tractors.

This first direct contract secured by IFS in Pakistan will provide Millat, which manufactures and distributes some 23,000 Massey Ferguson tractors a year, comprehensive functionality as a complete ERP solution that will provide an integrated information platform for the vehicle manufacturer.

'IFS Automotive' is an industry-specific vertical solution that takes a Product Life Cycle Management (PLM) approach, enabling Millat to completely automate its PLM process from the stage of creating the engineering design to manufacture and after-sales service of all tractors, said IFS South Asia Vice President, Jayantha de Silva.

The solution combines PLM and ERP functionality in areas such as Manufacturing and Quality Management, Inventory and Purchasing, Engineering and Maintenance, Sales, Distribution and After Sales Support, Human Resources, Finance and Management Information for Corporate Performance Management, de Silva told a news conference.

"This contract is a milestone for IFS South Asia, for Millat and for the 600-plus team of Sri Lankan business consultants and software engineers at IFS in Sri Lanka," de Silva said.

Millat Tractors Chairman Sikandar M. Khan said his company is on the threshold of a new phase of expansion made possible by the IFS Automotive Solution it has acquired. "As Pakistan's biggest manufacturer in the automotive sector, Millat is the benchmark company.
