Indian Air Chief here on Tuesday Indian Air Chief, Air Chief Marshal S.P. Tyagi will be here Tuesday on a four day visit on an invitation from Sri Lankan Air Force commander Air Marshal Donald Perera, the Air Force announced. With his career spanning over four decades Air chief Marshal Tyagi joined Indian Air Force as a Fighter pilot in 1963, had flown different types of fighter and transport aircrafts. During 1965 war he flew combat aircraft and in 1971 flew MiG 21 for Air defence purposes, he also had first hand view of the Gulf war I, when he was attached to the Saudi Arabia High Commission for India as Defence Attache. He has held several important field appointments including commanding officer of a fighter squadron, Air officer command, Director of Air defence, Assistant Chief of the Air staff intelligence and operation Senior Air Staff Officer, Head Quarters central Air Command, Air officer commander in chief of three operational commands, Central Air Command, South-Western Air command and Western Air Command. |
