Elaborate preparations underway for centenary Kingswood-Dharmaraja match by Upananda Jayasundera, Kandy Sports Special Corr A meeting was held recently by the Joint Organising Committee of Dharmaraja and Kingswood at the Dharmaraja Old Boys Headquarters, Kandy in connection with the 100th 'Big Match' between the two schools on 24th and 25th March at Asgiriya International Stadium. S. M. Keerthiratne, the Principal of Dharmaraja presided with the participation of Ranjith Chandrasekera, the Principal of Kingswood to make arrangements to mark this event. The following decisions were taken at this meeting. A softball match between Dharmaraja and Kingswood tutorial staff to be played on March 5, 2006 at the Kingswood grounds. 'Awareness Walk' by the Joint Committee members along with the students of both schools from Lake View to Randles Hill on March 11, 2006 commencing at 8.30 a.m. (from Dharmaraja grounds to Kingswood grounds). Over-40 cricket match between Old Boys of the two schools on March 19 at the Police Grounds, Kandy. To mark this even 'T' shirts, stickers, mugs, etc, to be exhibited on the two days of the 'Big Match'. The match will be played for the T. B. Tennekoon Memorial Challenge Shield. |
