The Sri Lankan Embassy with the support of the SriLankan Airlines and the Sri Lankan Coordinating Committee have organised a "Sri Lankan Week" from the Friday, February, 2 to the Thursday February 8, 2006.

There are around 45,000 to 50,000 Sri Lankans working in different sectors of the economy in the State of Qutar. There are the professionals among whom are Engineers, Doctors, Quantity Surveyors, Management professionals, Administrators and young employees in the construction and the household sectors both males and females. Sri Lanka is known in Qatar mostly for providing of the professional and other skills contributing to the national economy of Qutar.

The varied agricultural, industrial and service sector products which Sri Lanka can offer into the Gulf region, are not much known.

The Gulf citizens have still to explore our history, culture, art, architecture, touristic potential, investment potential, culinary expertise, educational attainments and dance forms. These aspects if brought to their attention, will bring more interaction between them and Sri Lanka.
