Am Tech brings high end data recovery to Lanka

"We all have experienced data loss - human error, virus attacks, power surges, natural disasters and so on. Many of us have data safety procedures in place against harmful activity. Experience has taught us that it is just a matter of when, not if, these procedures fail" said General Manager of Am Tech Lalantha Dias.

Some of the data may be salvaged from auxiliary data repositories, if they themselves are not damaged, but that data may need manipulating which may take days or weeks to bring up-to-date. However, there will be many cases where data cannot be retrieved using conventional methods or rendering such methods impractical to achieve perfect data synchronisation.

This is where AmTech comes in. By deploying advanced methods, much of the data in the damaged device can be accessed, extracted and put on new media. This work is performed in specially designed laboratories outside Sri Lanka by expert engineers.

AmTech has partnered with the world's foremost data recoverer CBL Data Recovery Technologies. The damaged media are sent to the nearest CBL lab, often to Singapore, and if deemed necessary to an appropriate North American CBL facility. Recovered data is rushed back on CDs or via the internet if the data volume is small.

"Technology matters a lot when it comes to data recovery," Dias said. The more advanced the equipment the easier it is get to the spots where data is stuck.

The chain of contacts we have established with CBL enable us to give our customers fast access to the best of technology." "Time is of essence when providing data recovery services." Once a certain deadline has passed, lost data becomes less relevant to the company's operations, so a quick turnaround is a necessity and that's where AmTech delivers its value," he said.

"Currently, in Sri Lanka and many parts of Asia, a user who loses data does not have easy and ready access to data recovery services.

This partnership between CBL and AmTech provides a business continuity service to our customers which minimises the consequences of data loss and allows them to continue with their business within the shortest possible time," said Managing Director, CBL Data Recovery Technologies Singapore, Samuel David.
