by Kurunegala North Group Correspondent

A mega rural electrification project is now under way at a cost of 100 million rupees funded by the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank for the Mahawa electorate in Kurunegala.

The Mahawa Provincial Electric Authority information reveals that construction works of ten rural projects have already been successfully completed and the construction works of the balance projects are systematically implemented.

Under this project the Provincial Secretary Division of Mahawa Galgamuwa, Polpithigama, Ambanpola, Giribawa and Ehetuwewa would be supplied with electricity. Mahawa Electricity Authority Director Mahinda Dharmapriya told the Sunday Observer that more than 7,000 families would be directly benefitted under this project.
