World's Fastest Car

by Chamari Senanayake

World's fastest production car looks and feels even better than the James Bond vehicles. It can run four times faster the legal speed limit of most of the countries in the world and amazingly reach 100Km/h just in 2.5 seconds.

Introduced as the best sports car in the world, Bugatti Veyron is the first production of the Bugatti company, since it used to produce exotic French cars in the 1920's and failed by the 1950's, and became part of the Volkswagen group.

In a way, this could be the best revival for any badge, to introduce the fastest and the most powerful car on earth. Bugatti Veyron has a top speed limit of mid blowing 407 Km/h, which puts it ahead of the fastest cars so far, like, Ferrari Enzo, Porsche Carrera GT and Mercedes Mc Laren SLR Supercar.

Bugatti Veyron is labelled as Bugatti Veyron 16.4, the reason being; believe it or not, its 16 cylinder engine and all-wheel drive system. The car has four turbochargers and produces 736kW with a neck twisting 1250 Nm of torque from as little as 2200 reves. Built only with left-hand drive, it has a seven-speed double-clutch sequential manual gear-box. It is built with special high speed tyres and carbon ceramic brakes.

The car has three suspension settings to maximize cornering grip at regular road speeds, and run at more than 375Km/h.

It can reach this status by pulling back its adjustable wings into the body to minimize drag, and the car is then lowered closer to the ground.

Just as in a James Bond movie or in a science fiction, it has all the luxury, starting from the twin leather seats, CD sounds and what not. Most of all, Bugatti Veyron 16.4 can stop faster than it goes, from 400 km/h in just 450m. Only a few people have been allowed to test-drive the car so far, and the company plans to make 300 cars. Without extra costs and taxes, it is estimated to be at least $ 1.4 million.
