Diesel stocks detained at checkpoint

A driver who attempted to carry a large stock of diesel into un-cleared areas across Muhamalai entry/exit point on Friday (3) around 12.30 p.m. was taken in for questioning after he pretended that the stock inside the Lorry contained beer but not diesel, Police said.

The driver, Arumugam Suganthan after reaching the Muhamalai Entry/Exit point claimed that he was taking 50 barrels of beer from Jaffna into uncleared areas of Kilinochchi.

Troops however, conducted the routine checking on the stock and found that those barrels contained diesel but not beer as alleged by the driver. The driver with the lorry was taken in for questioning by the Police at Muhamalai.

The Police investigations are on.
