Sri Lanka's team for Asian Junior C'ship on March 14

Twenty Eight netballers in the National Youth Pool, presently training in preparation for the Asian Junior Netball Championships will face the final trial on March 14 at the Torrington Avenue grounds.

Thilaka Jinadasa, the National Youth Pool coach said that the pool will be pruned down to 15 before the 12 players picked to represent at the Asian Junior Netball Championships to be held from July 24 to 30 in Bangalore, India.

Eight countries-holders Malaysia, runner-up Sri Lanka, third placed Singapore, Hong Kong, India, Thailand, Pakistan and Maldives will participate. Last year's championships was staged in Sri Lanka. Thilaka added that the 28 players all-round performances are good, the average hight is 5' 7". Deepthi Alwis assistant coach and my main aim is to improve the players positional play, reactions, speed and ball control.

The 12 players to represent Sri Lanka will be selected before one month of the championships.
