Talking Point "Are the days of Genteel Club life now a thing of the past." A pristine building houses a once prestigious elitist club, that was founded in 1941 by the likes of John Tarbot, Wymss of Baur and Co. Ltd, Dr. R. L. Spittel, Alistair McNeil Wilson among others. The creme de la creme of society including Supreme Court Judges, Captains of Trade and Industry, the pick of the professionals from the CCS were the ones who presided over its governance. Its dictum was its salutary behaviour towards all being prided as a truly multi-ethnic, multi-cultural club. However, today, the Yahoos and the Yobs through yesterdays and the day befores wealth, that they term clout have infiltrated into the body politic of this club. The state has been for the past three decades or more a very generous benefactor by way of landlordism where the Yahoos and the Yobs Lord it over, paying a nominal rent for an upmarket premises. To make matters more distasteful is the fact that a committee room, can be hired for Rs. 1,500 for three hours for alliances, mostly of an unholy nature. The loyal staff and some older generation members are aghast, praying "big or small" the so-called providers who supposedly protect all shall wake up from their hedonistic behaviour and abysmal folly.
