Chapter 4 - The preparation

Miss Lucie Manette informing Mr. Lorry about the letter regarding the property of her father and Mr. Lorry revealing the facts related to the property and Dr. manette's getting released from prison and Miss. Manette's responsibility to "restore her father to life, love and comfort". This sudden unexpected information bringing a shock to Lucie Manette; just seventeen, pretty and adorable.

Chapter 5 - The Wine Shop

A large wine cask being rolled off the cart and cracked while it's being transported to the wine shop in St. Antoine. The people getting crowded to enjoy the spilt wine. The wine shopkeeper noticing a man writing the word BLOOD on a wall with his sacked finger; rubbed off the word with the wine stained mud.

Dickens takes his readers to the " 'SECOND CITY' in the tale" and its people. In this chapter Dickens uses words with figurative meaning highlighting the fact that the French Aristocrats treated the poor common people in a needless manner. Dickens introducing Ernest and Therese Defarge, two significant persons in the REVOLUTION to follow, and the third character Dr. Alexander Manette.

Chapter 6 - The Shoe Maker

Due to imprisonment for long period of eighteen years Dr. Manette is physically and mentally devastated. Dr. Manette observing the golden hair of his daughter (who sat by him) with the stands of hair he had preserved is simply shocked, surprised at the similarity. Defarge and Mr. Lorry get things ready to take Dr. Maette to England.

Mr. Lorry's words "RECALLED TO LIFE" "The union of father and daughter after eighteen years". Nothing could escape Madame Defarge's Keen observation though she seems to be busy knitting.
