Kingsley meets EU president

Governor Kingsley T. Wickramaratne met Dr. Ursala Plassnik, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria and current President of the European Union recently at the office of the Foreign Affairs Ministry in Vienna.

Governor Wickramaratne presented a brass plaque in appreciation of the volunteer humanitarian services rendered by the Austrian Government, under the direction of Dr. Plassnik, following the tsunami disaster.

The most effective relief and rehabilitation rendered to Sri Lanka after the devastating tsunami was from the Government, NGOs, Kureir Aid and Red Cross of Austria.

Dr. Prassnik is due in Sri Lanka in the first week in July to open the Ruhunu-Austria University of Tourism and Hotel Management in Koggala, Galle, which is founded by the Austrian Government.
