Royal rowers for Singapore

Royal College crew who performed extremely well at the Joes Sculling
Championships winning the overall trophy for under-17 and being placed
runner-up in the under-19 overall championships is now making
preparations to participate at the 11th Merlion Rowing Championships to
be held from July 15 to 19 at the Lower Seletar Regatta Course in
Singapore.
Royal rowers who fared prominently at the Ranfer Sprints,
Intermediate Regatta and the Opening Regatta conducted by the Colombo
Rowing Club from February has been invited to row at this popular rowing
championships by the Singapore Rowing Association.
The clubs, schools and institutions from other Asian countries will
also take part in the championships which is being held annually.
Royal College crew will be captained by experienced schoolboy stroker
and a number two Gishan Karunanayake. The other rowers to represent the
college are - Amila Jayatilaka, Janidu de Silva, Pasindu de Silva,
Muditha Jayasinghe, Lishan Wickremanayake, Reza Akram, Keshal Jayasinghe,
Dewmith Ekanayake, Dinouk Perera, Maalik Azies, Oshan Weerasinghe,
Charith Karunanayake, Manil Boyagoda, Jeevan Tennakoon, Yadav Chelliah,
Madushan Dissanayake, Kosala Wickremanayake.
The events to be rowed are single scull, double scull, pairs, fours
in three age categories open, senior, junior.
Royal rowers will also compete at the South West Monsoon Regatta
conducted by Colombo Rowing Club on Saturday June 10 and they are
expected to continue their winning form. |
