'Doomed to perdition'... ... if 60% of two major parties and JHU JVP
constituencies disagree - H. L de Silva
'No solution (...to the National Question) will be feasible unless at
least 6o per cent of the segment comprising the two major political
parties and the JHU and the JVP reach an agreement, said eminent lawyer
H. L. De Silva, President's Counsel, who sits on the Advisory Committee
on the peace process that has been tasked to formulate a constitutional
solution that will address the National Question. He said this in an
excusive interview with the Sunday Observer (Page 9.)
If 60 per cent of this segment does not agree, "we shall be doomed as
a nation, and the political leaders of these two (major) parties will be
domed to perdition, '' he said.
No time should be wasted he added, but cautioned that "patience is
all important.'' He said: 'Our people and others concerned are waiting.' |
