Ranbima lands for displaced
The Government has launched a program to donate lands for the people
who were displaced by the war situation in the North-East of the
country.
Over 2000 displaced families received the deeds of new lands at a
function held in Puttalam last week. Agriculture Development Minister
Chamal Rajapaksa, the Chief guest said that the government had
identified 15-acres land in Thammennawa and 20 acres land in
Karambhawatta, Pallavi. Each displaced family will receive 10 perches of
land under the Ranbima deeds donation project.
Most of the land recipients of the first phase were from Vavuniya,
Kilinochchi and Mannar. The Minister also pledged to provide lands to
all displaced people.
The function also included an opening of the preschool building at
Thambapanni Watta in Thammennawa. The preschool building has been
constructed by the Resettlement Minister Risad Baduirdeen at a cost of
Rs. 35 lakhs.
