Invest in Lanka, Malaysians say

"We are looking for new business opportunities and we are not too worried about the Tigers," Soong said. Among those in the delegation is Michael Shak, a director at Bluecros, one of Malaysia's largest manufacturers of energy-saving systems, a company that has invested in many countries where others are reluctant to go like Iran, Cambodia, Nepal, Bangladesh or parts of Africa. Govt to combat C-O-L with free market policy

The government will not go for price control to curb the rising cost of living, Secretary to the Ministry of Trade Dr. R. M. K. Ratnayake assured. The government strongly believes that the free market would bring the price level to the minimum equilibrium, he said in response to some media reports that the government will introduce price control for essential goods.

Airforce targets main LTTE Eastern base

Substantial resources allocated: Lack of coordination hampers development

The 2006 budget has allocated Rs. 46 billion targeting poverty alleviation and rural development. The pro poor programs planned and launched include Gemi Diriya, Gam Pubuduwa, Maga Neguma, Kiri Gammana, Osu Gammana, Gamata Karmantha, Pubudamu Wellassa, Rajarata Navodaya and Nenasala.
