Minister of Enterprise Development and Investment Promotions Rohitha
Bogollagama will open the Sri Lanka International Gem and Jewellery show
on September 6 at the BMICH. It will continue till September 9.
Visitors to Facets 2006 will have the opportunity to buy a variety of
gemstones directly from the source. Exquisitely designed jewellery
crafted by skilled craftsmen will also be on display. Sri Lanka has a
developed jewellery industry with a high degree of creativity and
craftsmanship, manufacturing jewellery to meet international standards.
Facets 2006 will also include foreign exhibitors from Singapore,
Dubai, Thailand, India, Hong Kong and Myanmar. In addition to the new
and regular buyers from overseas, the organisers are making arrangements
to welcome trade delegations from Thailand and India.
The Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association, the apex body of the
industry, with the sponsorship of the National Gem and Jewellery
Authority and the Sri Lanka Export Development Board and private sector
organisations have conducted this show for the past 15 years.
The exhibition will showcase leading jewellers and their collection
of enhanced jewellery. A group of Myanmar jewellers and gem merchants
will also showcase their exclusive designs at the Myanmar Pavilion.
Facets has now established itself as the only international gem and
jewellery trade show in Sri Lanka and is on the international gem and
jewellery calendar. |
