Dialog awards Merit schols to A/L students
Dialog Telekom awarded Sri Lanka's top scorers at the local Advanced
Level examinations with Dialog Merit Scholarships. The new batch of
scholars gathered at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute for the awards
ceremony held under the patronage of the Minister of Education Susil
Premajayanth.
Over the past three years, Dialog Telekom Ltd has proven to be a
leader in pursuing the cause of improving education for Sri Lankan youth
by way of its scholar initiatives.
A substantial amount of focus has been placed on empowering
outstanding students from the 25 districts in Sri Lanka to accomplish
their future aspirations whilst being given support to pursue higher
studies at secondary and tertiary levels.
The Dialog Merit Scholarship Program has now become one of the most
sought in the island. Minister of Education Susil Premajayanth thanked
Dialog for its contribution and for helping to "improve the standard of
education in Sri Lanka to give students the chance to excel".
Echoing these sentiments was a member of the University Grants
Commission Prof. M. T. M. Jiffry, who complimented the company saying,
"This is a good example set by a company to promote human resources in
the country.
Dialog does a lot of other work in other areas of education too and
other companies should take this as an example and have such programs as
technology is the future of our country and the world today. This helps
students to help make a contribution to national development." |
