Sinotex completes 25 years in Lanka

Sinotex (Lanka) Ltd, a member of the Crystal Group - Hong Kong and a pioneer in the local garment industry completed 25 years of operation in Sri Lanka recently.

The executive committee which comprised the senior management of the company decided to celebrate the anniversary in a different way by giving back something to the society and in doing so decided on the Kurunegala district from which they have the majority of employees. The first of these projects was the construction of a children's ward at the Giribawa National Hospital.

This was a longstanding need to the people of Giribawa and the new facility will provide residents with an improved and more efficient medical system.

The second project undertaken by Sinotex was to construct a new block of classrooms and much needed toilets for the students of Rajangana Yaya 3, Dharmasoka Vidyalaya. These students who face numerous hardships at school will now find a better environment for their studies due to these new additions.

This community service initiative follows the Rs. 1.25 million collected by Sinotex employees for tsunami relief which was not due to the lack of a suitable project at the time.
