Six soldiers killed, four wounded

Six soldiers were killed and four others wounded when an Improvised
Explosive Device (IED) exploded near the Muhamale Forward Defence Line
yesterday, The Military Spokesman Prasad Samarasinghe told the 'Sunday
Observer'.
The IED had been abandoned by the LTTE terrorists after an LTTE
attack near the Muhamale FDL a few days ago.
Meanwhile, five LTTE terrorists were killed in retaliatory fire
between the Special Task Force (STF) and the LTTE terrorists in the
Batticaloa Forward Defence Line yesterday.
The STF later recovered T 56 gun, a pistol, three hand grenades and a
mobile phone used by terrorists in this attack.
Another terrorist was killed in retaliatory fire by the troops at the
Forward Defence Line at Nawakkulama East of Omanthai and his body was
recovered with a T 56 weapon. |
