Gujarat, Chennai and Sri Lanka Swimming triangular Sept 2 and 3
The inaugural Triangular Schools Swimming Championships, with
Swimmers from Gujarat and Chennai from India and Sri Lanka participating
will be held on September 2 and 3 at Nalanda College pool commencing
from 8.30 a.m. on each day. The Triangular is organised and hosted by
Sri Lanka Schools Aquatic Sports Association (SLSASA).
Some of the Sri Lanka Schools participants, fresh after participating
at the 2nd Asian Schools Swimming Championships in Hong Kong last month
and the 10th edition of South Asian Games - swimming disciplines, are
expected to perform well at this meet. The swimmers will participate in
six categories in both boys and girls under-9, under-11, under-13,
under-15, under-17 and under-19.
Altogether 58 events will be worked off at the two-day meet. The best
swimmer among boys and girls will be selected and special trophies will
be presented. All winners, runners-up and those finishing third will
receive medals and certificates.
The boys and girls overall champions will be awarded the SLSASA
Challenge Trophy. First day's programme (Sept 2): Freestyle event (all
age groups) boys and girls, Breast stroke and Individual medley
(under-17 and under-19). Second day (3rd September) events: Back stroke,
Butterfly stroke (all age groups), Individual medley (under-13 and
under-19) Mrs. Ranjani de Fonseka, Secretary SLSASA informs that all
participants from Sri Lanka schools should produce the valid ID Card
issued by the SLSASA.
