Vitebsk to increase intake of Lankan medical students
The Vitebsk State Medical University (VSMU) of Belarus has decided to
increase the Sri Lankan student intake this year since their overall
performance has been exceptionally good compared to other students,
Deputy Head of Foreign Students Admission VSMU, Prof. Konstantin B.
Boloboshko said.
The VSMU increased the Sri Lankan student intake this year to 70 from
30 last year. The university accepts around 150 students per year and
this year's increase is an achievement to the country and its medical
profession, Prof. Boloboshko said.
The university decided to increase the student intake this year since
Sri Lankan students have been outstanding in performance and discipline.
The good listening culture and mannerism demonstrated by Lankan students
is admirable and highly appreciated by the university, Prof. Boloboshko
said.
The PATHE Academy People's Academy for Tertiary and Higher Education
tied up with Vitebsk State Medical University (VSMU) of the Republic of
Belarus to provide medical education at an affordable price to students
who are unable to obtain a place in national universities.

Three credits in Bio Science at the GCE A/L and fluency in English
are the criteria for students to enter the VGMU to complete a six-year
course. Students of low income families are assisted through various
concessionary schemes.
