SMS Holdings paves its way to success in five years
A new age of paving dawned in Sri Lanka on September 6, 2001, SMS
Holdings (Strategic Management Systems) started out, bringing about a
fresh face to paving concepts in the island.
Today, SMS Pavers celebrates five years of dedicated, creative
service to its customers and its contribution to the changing face of
paving in domestic and corporate projects.
SMS Pavers had a modest beginning in 2001, stepping into the paving
field not only as a new player, but one with hardly any experience in
the field of paving five years on, and the company has not only made
leaps and bounds to become a major player but has also ventured into
various other areas such as real estate, landscaping and even
construction projects.
"When we stepped into the picture five years ago there was just one
major player in the industry who had a whopping 83%. We figured that
they had to be either really good, or that there just wasn't enough
competition, and we dived in and learned over the years that it was the
latter. We also found what a huge demand there was for quality paving
that could take on heavy duty, and that was also affordable," said
Managing Director of SMS Holdings Sampath Gunaratne.
Gunaratne said "SMS Pavers has grown to serve hundreds of clients
with numerous services and technologies.
One of our first projects was the Lanka IOC Petrol Sheds, and since
then we've grown from strength to strength.
It has been SMS Paver's privilege to serve the community for the past
five years, and we look forward to continuing and expanding our services
in the near future," he said.
Among the awards SMS Holdings received the SLIA Product Excellence
Awards in 2005.
