Gampaha District on top in Masters Athletics

Gampaha
District with 446 points came on top of the Masters Track and Field Meet
organised by Central Province Masters Sports Association and held at the
Bogambara Stadium last week.
In second place were the athletes from Kandy District with 388 points
and Kegalle District came third with 336 points.
The chief guest at the meet was L. B. Aluvihare - the Mayor of Kandy
and Thilina Tennekoon - the leader of the opposition was the guest of
honour while on the final day, the Governor of Central Province Tikiri
Kobbekaduwa was the chief guest.
The champion athletes - Men: 35 years: J. A. Ravi Jayakody (Kegalle
District), 40 years: Velu Subramaniam (Nuwara Eliya District), 45 years:
D. S. Gunadasa (Gampaha District), 50 years: D.J.L.G. Weerasinghe (Gampaha
District), 55 years: Neil Wickremarachchi (Kandy District), 60 years: M.
Rajaratnam (Colombo), 65 years: K. M. Karunaratne (Kandy District) and
J.M. Punchibanda (Kegalle District), 70 years: R. A. Gunasekera (Kegalle
District) and Austin Jayatilleke (Kurunegala Dist), 75 years: A.
Somasundera (Kegalle District).
Champion athletes women - 35 years: D. K. Delpitiya (Kandy District),
40 years: M. Dayani Peiris (Gampaha District) and R. M. M. Ratnayake (Kegalle
District), 45 years: H. Padmini (Kegalle District), 50 years: Amila
Wanniarachchi (Kegalle District), 55 years: K. G. G. Menike (Ratnapura
District), 60 years: H. R. Podimenike (Kegalle District), 65 years: W.
A. Leelawathie (Kegalle District), 70 years: Mallika Sachithananda
