Major Gen. Karunaratne Eastern Commander

Major General Sanath Karunaratne has been appointed as the Security Forces Commander Eastern sector.

He will assume duties on Wednesday. Major General Karunaratne was the Commander in the 55 Division in Muhamale and Nagar Kovil till mid September where he commanded to repulse major LTTE offensive to seize Jaffna.

He was earlier the Director Operation of the Peace Secretariat and the Military Spokesman.
