Govt keen on Tamil core issues

The LTTE yesterday focused more on the ceasefire agreement than on
core issues concerning the Tamil people in Sri Lanka according to
reports received here on the first day of talks between the government
delegation and the LTTE representatives.
According to reports the government delegation is keen on discussing
core issues concerning the Tamil people in Sri Lanka with the commitment
to finding a solution to the problems as directed by President Mahinda
Rajapaksa.
Reports published from Geneva before the commencement of the talks
stated that the government delegation intends to focus on the
establishment of democracy in the north and the east, encourage gradual
establishment of pluralistic elections, tolerance of political dissent
within the Tamil community.
