Cheaper kerosene soon

The Petroleum Resource Ministry yesterday assured that the price of
kerosene will be reduced on par with Wednesday's price reduction on
petrol and diesel.
Transport and Petroleum Resource Minister A. H. M. Fowzie told the
Sunday Observer, that a team of officials had been deployed to study the
price reduction process on kerosene.
"We are aware a large number of the rural population and a section of
the fishing community depend on kerosene, therefore like on early
occasions the benefit of the fuel price reduction will also be passed on
to them", he said.
According to the recent price revision, a litre of 90 octane petrol
has come down to Rs. 92 and 95 octane to Rs. 95. The price of diesel and
super diesel has come down to Rs. 60 and Rs. 65.
Asked whether the Petroleum Corporation had taken any decision to
take the maximum advantage of world market price reduction and stock up
for future needs, the Minister said a shipment with 60,000 MT of fuel
has already arrived in Colombo and it will be stocked at the CPC
Muturajawela tanks.
"However, we are expecting to import more crude oil to avoid any
shortage," he said. |
