Sri Lankans protest against LTTE atrocities in Geneva
Hundreds of Sri Lankans gathered opposite the United Nations office
in Geneva to protest against the atrocities committed by the LTTE in Sri
Lanka.
Sinhalese, Tamils and Muslims living in Switzerland and London
carried placards and banners against the brutality of LTTE and
distributed leaflets to the people as the government and the LTTE were
holding talks at the nearby Geneva International Conference Hall. The
protesters screamed slogans against the killing of democratic Tamils,
recruitment of child soldiers and suicide bombings.
A protester told the Sunday Observer that it was a gathering of all
communities to protest against the LTTE since the LTTE atrocities
affected everyone including children. He said the LTTE must lay down
arms and display their sincerity towards achieving lasting peace.
