Feng-shui South that brings fame...

This week, we will discuss about the South direction in our Feng-Shui lesson. Asiri Wanigaratne, our Feng-shui master says that one should consider a lot about this area as it defines one's fame and recognition. If you are also thinking of raising your popularity, here you are, try your luck!

The main element for the South is fire and the colour is red. So, red bulbs or red colour candles should be lit in this area of direction.

South is the best place for the shrine area as generally you tend to light a lamp there and the fire is its element. You also can paint the 'Mati Thel Pahana' (clay oil lamp) in red colour as then it fulfils the colour element as well for this direction. The picture of 'the hundred birds' is the best picture prescribed in Feng-shui. Other than that the picture of horses (more than one horse) and picture of a statue of the 'Red Phoenix Bird' will bring luck to you when placed in the South of your house, living area, room or business place.

You can grow red flower plants and red croton plants in the south area of your compound. But metal wind chimes are not advisable to be hung in the South as metal is not the element for this area. But clay is tolerable. Blue is the colour that would bring misfortune if placed in the South.

If you have curtains or any other ornaments or walls painted in blue colour in the South, its better if you can change them into red. Green and brown are the other tolerable colours for the South. So, if you do not like a lot of red in your place at least change them into green and brown.

Some prefer to place the fireplace or the cooking stove in the South of the kitchen as fire is meant for the South.
