CRC for ARAE Regatta on Dec. 23

ROWING: The Colombo Rowing Club rowers will row at the Amateur Rowing Association East (ARAE) Regatta to be held on December 23 in Karachi, Pakistan. The regatta was earlier to be held on December 16 but the organisers and hosts Karachi Boat Club changed the date due to several requests from other participating clubs.

Chanaka Wickremasooriya, the captain of Boats Colombo Rowing Club said that only CRC oarsmen will participate at the ARAE and the final squad will be named soon. Colombo Rowing Club oarsmen are training under Chevantha Sirimanne and Chanaka Wickremasooriya.

Last year, Madras Boat Club carried away major honours, winning the overall trophy.

According to organisers, four leading clubs from Pakistan - Karachi Boat Club, Royal Yacht Club Islamabad, Combined Universities of Karachi, Dawn Rowing Club, Faisalabad together with teams from India, Hong Kong, Singapore and Thailand are expected to compete at the regatta.
