CNCI welcomes NICs for EPF/ETF contributions

The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) has welcomed the recent decision by the Minister of Labour to implement the usage of national identity card numbers for EPF and ETF contributions.

There had been many instances the workers who have been in employment at more than one establishment, encounter difficulties in getting their total EPF/ETF contribution at retirement due to non-accumulation of contributions made at different establishments under one specific member number/code.

Therefore the introduction of the NIC number would help overcome the difficulty thus helping the retirees to gain the total contributions without difficulty and less delay.

"We trust the Government will make use of the NIC number as a national tracking device in many other organisations such as The Land Registry, Registration of Motor Vehicles, Registrar of Birth, Deaths and Marriages and Insurance.
