The Fortress opens in Galle

Located 20 minutes away on the golden southern coast of Galle, 'The Fortress' was ceremoniously opened recently coinciding with the launch of Travel + Leisure Magazine South Asia.

Guests were welcomed at the entrance by the General Manager - Scot Toon along with members of the team, and treated to cocktails followed by a delicious Mediterranean fare from Heat and a real Sri Lankan flavour from the signature restaurant Pepper. The evening culminated in a spectacular fireworks display which lit up the night sky with shades of red, gold and silver.

Gracing the occasion was Chairman Tourist Board Udaya Nanayakkara, and other distinguished guests from Hospitality, Corporate and from the Media industries.

This 49 super iconic property will definitely raise the benchmark for luxury accommodation in Sri Lanka. With unprecedented levels of service, extraordinary innovation, attention to detail and a unique blend of Old Ceylon with Modern Asia, The Fortress offers an unrivalled resort experience and cultural journey.

Recreating history, The Fortress has been styled after Galle's powerful ancient Dutch Fort, blending the country's Dutch and Portuguese influences with Sri Lankan motifs and indigenous furnishings to echo the historic days of Old Ceylon.

This has been artfully and sensitively fused with innovative architecture, high design features, state-of-the-art technology, sensual living spaces with naturally modern design, and incredible gastronomic experiences, to a stunning effect - all of which are hallmark qualities of its management company Per Aquum Resorts - Spas - Residences
