Six international events for spikers

VOLLEYBALL: Sri Lanka spikers including men, women, boys and girls will have a great opportunity of competing in six international tournaments conducted by the Asian Volleyball Federation in the year 2007.

The Asian Volleyball Federation has announced that its first championships will be held from May 7 to 15, 6th Asian Youth (Girls) Championships in Thailand. The other international match dates and venues are - May 20 to 28 - 6th Asian Youth (Boys) Championships in Philippines.

June 1 to 8 - Asian Inter-Club Men's Volleyball Championships in Bahrain. June 16-23 Asian Inter Club Women's Volleyball Championships in Vietnam, September 1 to 9 - 14th Asian Senior Men's Volleyball Championships in Indonesia and October 1 to 9 - 14th Asian Senior Women's Volleyball Championships in Thailand.

According to a senior official of the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation separate Volleyball Development Pools will be selected next month and they will train under national volleyball coaches in preparation for these international tournaments. (L.F.)
