Union Assurance excels in Lanka and South Asia

Union Assurance entered its twentieth year winning the award for the Best Presented Accounts by the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) in the Non-Banking financial Sector and winning the award for the Best Annual Report in the Insurance Sector at the recently concluded Annual Report Awards organised by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL).

The prestigious SAFA Award is a benchmark among companies in the South Asian region giving organisations an impetus to achieve the high standards set out by SAFA for the entire region.

At the ceremony at Galle Face Hotel Union Assurance became the best in the Non - Banking Financial Sector in the region to win this prestigious award from SAFA. Accepting the award, Deputy CEO Dirk Pereira said the company was able to achieve this accolade because of its transparency and accountability tenets.

"We are very conscious that it is our responsibility as a highly upheld corporate citizen to present the company's financial position as transparently as possible, focusing on the three aspects of performance management, corporate governance and social responsibility.

It is therefore a great honour to us that SAFA, whose principal objective is to co-ordinate and guide efforts to evaluate technical, ethical and educational guidelines within the region, thought it fitting to present this award to a Sri Lankan company from the very competitive insurance industry".
