Colombo BC yet unbeaten

BASKETBALL: Colombo BC remain unbeaten to head the Men's 'A' Division of the Colombo Super League Championships of the Colombo District Basketball Association (CDBA) which is now in progress.

They beat Police 91-71 after leading 41-35 at short blast with Jagath Kulatunga (25), Mithila Abeysekera (21), and Roshan Randima (18) in top form, while for Police, Vajira Kumarasinghe (27), Gazali Razack (13) and Sujith Master (12) were the best.

In another Men's 'A' Division game, Wennappuwa BC best Colombo Bulls 54-46 after being led 17-21 half time with Chalinda Fernando (14), Malinda Fernando (12) and Virantha Bastian (10) doing most of the scoring, while Asela Perera (15) was the pick for Colombo Bulls.

Seylan Bank best Paulians 61-40 after leading 30-16 at the breather in the Women's 'A' Division with Inoka Sandamali (20), Saduni Bollegoda (17) and Premila Fernando (12) the beat, while for the Paulians, Sashi de Silva (10) and Tharushika Alwis (7) were the main scorers.

Wattala BC best Otters 72-66 after leading 36-34 in a close tussle in the Men's 'A' Division with Prageeth Pushpakumara (33) being the top scorer together with Sanketha Jayaratne (11), while Shanaka Perera (20) and Diluk Hemantha (19) were the best for Otters.

All-Greens best Jayawardenepura BC 58-55 in another class game after leading 29-28 at lemons in the Men's 'B' Division with Mohamed Fawson (23), Sushendra Senanayake (10) and Manaram Bandara (10) being the main scorers, while for Jayawardenepura BC, Poson Ranasinghe (23), Nuwanga Perera (15) and Nuwan Indika (11) were the best.

Maroons also scored a close 36-35 win over Red Devils after being led 18-22 at half time in the Men's 'B' Division with Pasindu Gunatilleke (21) the top scorer, while Sumith Perera (17) did well for Red Devils.

DPMCL beat Police 'B' 57-39 in the Men's 'C' Division after leading 39-12 at short blast with Asanga de Silva (14) and Ajith Jayaweera (14) outstanding, while D. M. S. Dissanayake (19) and W. P. Janaka (16) were the pick for Police 'B'.

Colombo Bulls beat Wattala BC 60-53 after leading 35-31 at half time in the Men's 'A' Division with Asela Perera (17), Thisara Kotabaarachchi (10) and Ranil Godawatte (10) being the main scorers, while Prageeth Pushpakumara (17) and Sanketha Jayaratne (12) doing well for Wattala.

Kandy Cagers beat Wennappuwa 'B' 68-55 after leading 26-24 at the breather in the Men's 'B' Division with Christie Krishantha (18), Kapil Dev (17) and Lakshitha Abeyratne (15) being the top scorers, while Nalaka Maduranga (18) and Nishanth Fernando (14) the best for Wennappuwa 'B'.

St. Eugene's beat Black Hawks 82-57 after being led 29-38 at half time with Pradeep Pieris (27), Angelo Perera (18) and Shalin Fernando (13) the main scorers, while Nipun Samarakoon (16) and Mohamed Musz (15) doing the best for Black Hawks.

Wattala BC beat Wennapuwa BC 73-51 after leading 32-14 at the short whistle in the Men's 'A' Division with Sanketha Jayaratne (33) and Pradeep Pushpakumara (12) the top scorers, while Anton Niroshan (12) and Malinda Fernando (10) doing well for Wennappuwa.

In another 'A' Division game for men, Colombo Bulls received a walk-over from Otters, while in the Men's 'C' Division, SMI beat All-Greens 'B' 52-43 after leading 16-11 at the short whistle with Farmil Farouk (15) and Hashan Meewella (13) being the pick, while Chalitha Gehan (12) and Dushan Premawardene (11) the main scorers for All-Greens 'B'.

Colombo BC continued their run of success in the Men's 'A' Division with their fifth win defeating Colombo Bulls 85-73 after being led 36-38 at half time with Chamath Danawansa (24), Rasika Prabath (20), Roshan Randima (13), Mithila Abeysekera (13) and Jagath Kulatunga (10) being the top scorers, while for Colombo Bulls, Asela Perera (17), Thissara Kotabaaratchi (13), Duke Rajapakse (13) and Ranil Godawatte (9) did most of the scoring.

In the Men's 'B' Division, Ambalangoda BC beat Maroons 62-52 after leading 32-19 at lemons with Harshadeva Yasaratne (19), Gemunu Sandaruwan (18), Banu Ratnayake (9) and Yasith Lakshitha (9) being the main scorers, while Madumantha Ratnatunga (26) and Pasidu Gunatilleke (18) shining for Maroons.

There are three games scheduled for today (Sunday) also at the Depot Police courts. St. Eugene's take on Moratuwa BC in the Men's 'C' Division at 4.30 p.m., Colombo Bulls meet Police in the Men's 'A' Division at 6 p.m. while Colombo BC take on Otters also in the Men's 'A' Division at 7.30 p.m.
