Sixteen teams in men's final - round

BASKETBALL: Sixteen teams have qualified to figure in the final rounds after the league stages of the Colombo Super League Championships of the Colombo District Basketball Association (CDBA) scheduled to get under way on Thursday.

The four sides in the Men's 'A' Division are Colombo BC, Police, Wattata BC and Colombo Bulls, while the four teams in the Men's 'B' Division are Nugegoda Cagers, Jayawardenapura BC, Ambalangoda BC and Red Devils with Field Force, St. Eugen's, DPMC, Cavaliers, Stallions, SMI, Kandy Cagers and CIS in the final rounds of the men's 'C' Division.

Police beat Wattala BC in the Men's 'A' Division by 86 points to 76 after leading 40 - 23 at half time with Sujith Master (29), Vajira Kumarasinghe (25) and Ghazali Razack (12) doing most of the scoring for Police, while Prageeth Pushpakumara (27) and Sankotha Jayaratne (15) were the pick for Wattala BC.

All-Greens beat Kelaniya University 62-18 after leading 40-8 at half time in a Men's 'C' Division game with Tariq Hamith (22) and Amar Hussain (17) being the top scorers, while Amarabandu (8) was the main scorer for the undergrads.

Otters beat Colombo BC 73-60 after leading 42-31 at lemons in their Men's 'A' Division game with Shanaka Perera (20), Gayan Meedeniya (20) and Chamath Serasinghe (12) the top scorers, while Rasika Prabath (19), Mithila Abeysekera (15) and Roshan Randima (13) were the pick for Colombo BC.

In another Men's 'A' Division game, Police beat Colombo Bulls 73-60 after leading 30-23 at the breather with Sujeewa Wijeweera (18), Sujith Master (16) and Vajira Kumarasinghe (15) the chief scorers, while Thisara Kolabarachi (26) and Ranil Godawatta (10) did well for Colombo Bulls.

St. Eugen's beat Moratuwa BC 66-33 after leading 29-15 at the breather in the Men's 'C' Division with Pradeep Pieris (16), Rinzly Nisanka (15) and Shalin Fernando (14) doing most of the scoring, while Rochana Fernando (13) and Samson de Mel (9) were the pick for Moratuwa.

In another Men's 'C' Division game, Cambrians beat Kalaniya University 57-26 after leading 36-14 at half time with Chaminda Nonis (19) and Ruzni Hameed (18) the top scorers while Amarabandu (16) did well for the undergrads.

Defending champions Nugegoda Cagers remained unbeaten in the Men's 'B' Division beating Buffalos 77-65 after leading 34-22 at breather with Chaminda Jayasiri (28), Ajanthan Balendran (12), Hayaz Haroon (11) and Hashitha Wijeratne (10) doing most of the scoring, while Sadun Ratnapriya (18), Rimas Hassan (16), Purna Gunawardena (15) and Rangana Pathum (10) being the pick for Buffalos.

Wattala BC beat Air Force 83-60 in the Men's 'A' Division after leading 43-37 at short blast with Prageeth Pushpakumara (24), Niroshan Danuka (24) and Sidath Senanayake (15) the top scorers, while Asanga Perera (34) and Ravi Dodangoda (13) were the pick for the Airmen.
