St. Joseph's are under-13 champions

BASKETBALL: St. Joseph's Girls' School, Nugegoda won the All-Island Under-13 Girls' 'A' Division title beating Presbyterian Girls' School, Dehiwala very comfortably 84-11 after leading 38-10 at half time.

Sanduni Udeshika Perera (29) and Jayani Ransari Nugi (29) together with Dewni Kaushalya (14) and Thinoli Kotalawela (10) did most of the scoring for the Nugegoda lasses, while Navodya Dahami (6) did well for the lasses from Dehiwala.

Sanduni Udeshika Perera was adjudged the Best Player, Jayani Ransari Nugi the Best Offensive Player and Thinoli Kaushalya the best Defensive Player. All three girls are from St. Joseph's Girls' School.

In the semi-finals, St. Joseph's beat Sujatha 61-13 after leading 34-7 at half time, while Presbyterian beat Sirimavo Bandaranaike BMV 26-20 after being led 4-9 at the breather.

In the consolation final, Sirimavo Bandaranaike BMV beat Sujatha (Matara) 28-19 after having a slender 8-7 lead at half time.
