Ex-Army Women's Association to commemorate war heroes

The Ex-Army Women's Association has organised an event to commemorate war heroes on February 16 at the Mailapitiya Ranaviru Park to coincide with the International Women's Day.

The President of the association, Capt Victoria Lakshmi said that a number of serving and retired members' husbands and nineteen women soldiers have sacrificed their lives for the country.

The members of the association will accompany the wives and children along with the next of kin of women soldiers killed to the Memorial Park and light an oil lamp on this day, Lakshmi said.

The Kandy Branch of the Association will also be formed on the same day to facilitate their members living in the Kandy district.
