Ratnams win Kit Champion of Champions Trophy

Hat-trick of goals by Kasun Jayasuriya

Soccer: A time hat-trick of goals by ace striker Kasun Jayasuriya saw Ratnam SC lift the Kit champion of champions Trophy defeating Blue Star SC by 3 goals to 1 in the final played at the Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday.

From the outset Ratnam SC showed their supremacy and pounced on the rivals who were forced to adopt a defensive game in the first half.

Ratnam SC surged ahead 1-0 in the 9th minute when Kasun Jayasuriya netted home off a clever pass by Chathura Maduranga at half time winners led 1-0.

Blue star SC missed a golden opportunity to level score when R. Rameez spot kick was well saved by D. Senarath.

However Kalutara team equalised through M. Farzeen who shot it neatly to the left corner of the net 1/1.

Ratnam SC continued to press forward with their slick passing and movement off the ball and scored two goals through Kasun Jayasuriya in the 24th and 35th minutes.

Red Cards were shown to W. A. L. Tharanga (Ratnam SC) and M. Irshan and M. Nageem of Blue Star SC.
