Link between London and Maggona

CRICKET: The Chief Executive Officer of the Surrey Cricket Club in
London Paul Sheldon said that the Surrey Cricket Village, in Maggona
funded by the Surrey CC and the Brit Insurance, London will be an
everlating link between London and the people in Maggona. Paul Sheldon
said this when he opened the Surrey Cricket village at Maggona for the
Tsunami victims.
"The London Oval is a World famous cricket grounds, when we heard
about the T-Sunami we were very keen to try and help the people in Sri
Lanka, particularly who had lost their homes in the disaster. Two years
later this wonderful new cricket grounds and the village is the result.
The creation of this new village is a dream come true," he said.
He further said that the tie between Sri Lanka cricket and English
cricket is very close and very important us. We love Sri Lankan cricket
but not so much as you beat us at the World Cup.
The Minister of Sports and Recreation Gamini Lokuge who was also
present thanked the English Club for coming to Sri Lanka's aid with the
project that cost one hundred million rupees. He stressed that the
people in the village should take this opportunity to the maximum
instead of selling the houses for finanacial benefits.
