LECS boat show in the Maldives

Lanka Exhibitions and Conference Services (LECS) through it subsidiary Maldives Exhibitions and Conference Services (MECS) will organise a boat exhibition this year from May 7 to 9 in the neighbouring Maldives.

Director of LECS, Imran Hassan said that this will be an exhibition with a difference as it will have water transport solutions to all segments of society; from luxury cruise boats, to heavy goods transport vessels or small fishing boats - the exhibition will cover it all.

The exhibition will aim at buyers and visitors not only from the Maldives but also from the region as it is targeted to achieve the standards of the Dubai International Boat Exhibition.

It will showcase a wide and exclusive range of boats and marine services and will accommodate over a hundred exhibitors from over 30 countries. "The show will draw big names from the regional and international boating and marine industry, and will find its place in the global boat show calendar," said Hassan.

"The Boat Show Team at LECS has received many requests from visitors, locally and around the region. The interest shown by this segment represents this rapidly emerging lifestyle concentrated around multi-functional waterfront developments", he said.

The show is expected to reach new levels of exhibitor bookings in the region and visitor numbers, as the world's marine industry flock to the event, which will take place in the Maldives in 2007 at Dharubaaruge, Male.

A number of factors - including the rising popularity of sailing and the growth of the leisure marine lifestyle in the Maldive Islands itself have created a market where demand currently outstrips supply creating major opportunities for boat builders and suppliers.
