All-Island Essay competition for teenagers

All schoolchildren in the age group of 15-19 years could participate
in the annual All Island Essay competition on 'Drug abuse and HIV/AIDS',
conducted by the Lions Clubs international - District 306 A 2 assisted
by Sri Lanka Anti-Narcotics Associations (SLANA).
The contest is being conducted for the 15th consecutive year,
organising Committee Chairman Lion S. Ramachandran MJF said.
Essays are accepted in all three languages, Sinhala, Tamil and
English.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners. In addition, trophies and
certificates will also be presented to the winners. The show is
sponsored by Lions Club of Dehiwela North led by its President Lion Ravi
Rajapathirana.
Essays should not exceed six handwritten A4 size pages and not less
than five pages. Typed scripts are also accepted. Essays should be
certified by the principal of the participant's school and the date of
birth.
The entry should be the original work of the student. Participants
can enter their essays either on one subject or both but they should be
separate ones.
Essays should be sent to District Chairman (Prevention of drug Abuse
and AIDS, Lions District 306 A2, No. 12/3, Frances Road, Wellawatta,
Colombo 6 on or before February 28. |
