Charandas - an award winning drama at Lionel Wendt
Parakrama Niriella's
latest dramatic creation; "Charandas", which won the award for the best
drama at the
State Drama Festival of 2006, will be staged on 01 April 2007 at the
Lionel Wendt theatre, at 3.30 and 7.00 p.m.
"Charandas" is an adaptation of original play; "Charandas Chor" by
Indian playwright Habib Thanvir. This satirical drama won 9 awards in
the both categories of Sinhala and Tamil at the State Drama Festival
including the best Production, best Direction, best Actor and best
Supporting Actor. Music is created by H.A. Perera.
The Choreographer and Assistant Director is Ravindra Mapitigama while
Dilip
Rohana is responsible as the Production Manager. Theatre Group is
managed by Nishantha Kularatne and Avanthi Udakumbura is the
coordinator. Make-up is by Palitha Abelal.
This play is a production of Jana Karaliya and it is being performed
by a specially trained group of talented performing artists representing
both ethnic groups, Sinhala and Tamil.
The cast consist of Jayantha Muthuthanthri, Manjula Ranasinghe,
Suneth Shanthapriya, Sumudu Mallawarachchi, Palitha Abelal, Chaminda
Prasad, Muyandi Kalidas, Sokkalingam Chrishanthan, Ajanthan Shanthikumar,
Verni Theresa, Arosha Tharanganie, Sineth Devinda, Thyagaraja Sivanesan,
Sam Paul, Praneeth Jeewantha, Dinesh Sri Livera, Rasaiya Lohanandan,
Malithi Kumari, Selvaraj Leelawathie, Balachrishnan Radhika and Sodivel
