President congratulates Sri Lanka team

President Mahinda Rajapaksa congratulated the Sri Lanka cricket team which has entered the Super Eight round of the ICC World Cup tournament in the West Indies. Sri Lanka crushed India by 69 runs in Trinidad in their last Group 'B' match to advance to the final round with an unbeaten record.

President Rajapaksa commended the recent performances of the Sri Lanka team, which has made it three in-a-row with wins over Bermuda, Bangladesh and India.

The President has wished all success to skipper Mahela Jayawardene and his team to do even better in the decisive Super Eight final round. The President also paid tribute to veteran opener Sanath Jayasuriya, who became the first Lankan centurion at the 2007 World Cup, scoring his 24th one-day international century.

The President also wished greater success to the Sri Lanka team in their endeavour to regain the World Cup after 11 years.
