New CID chief

Senior Supdt. of Police Nimal Kulatunga assumed duties as the Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) last week. The post fell vacant after SSP Sisira Mendis was transferred to the Vavuniya division. SSP Kulatunga, a veteran with a wealth of experience had served in the CID for more than 25 years.

Prior to his appointment as Director,CID he was attached to the Sri Lankan High Commission in Canada on a special assignment. He had investigated several international frauds involving both locals and multi-nationals in Sri Lanka.
