Machiko Raheem star of Pentathlon

SWIMMING: Trinity and Hillwood gave pleasing performances to emerge overall boys and girls champions respectively at the National Pentathlon swimming championships concluded at the Sugathadasa Stadium pool yesterday.

Trinity retained the title collecting 44 points, while St. Josephic were runner us with 27 points and Ananda third in the boys with 25 points. Hillwood took honours among the girls with 30 points last years champions Mahamaya Kandy came in second with 24 points and Musaeus third with 23 points.

Machiko Raheem, sister of Sri Lanka womens swimming champion Mayumi was the 'star' of the meet establishing three new meet records in the girls under 12 - 50 metres Back Stroke (32.30 secs), 50M Free Style (31.48 secs) and 200M Individual Medley (2:52:15 secs)
