Sidath Wettimuny cut a pretty picture when he said that Sri Lanka's
cricket has come a long way and the encouragement given to young
cricketers will help them to perform better. Sidath, the third in
the Wettimuny clan to play for Sri Lanka, was the chief guest at the
29th Observer-Bata Schoolboy Cricketer of the year awards
presentation at the BMICH on Thursday.

Royal Horana needs funds to play cricket
The little known school from Horana - Royal
College has reached encouraging standards in cricket playing in
division two cricket competition this season. The school cricket
team's aim is to participate in the division one in the year 2008,
coach Dumindu Hemal and H.L.C. Jagathsiri the master-in-charge said
after Horana Royal received the Best-Up-and-coming team award at the
29th Observer Bata Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year awards ceremony
held at the BMICH on Thursday.
