Mobitel launches Sony Ericsson P1 at NEGC 2007

Sony Ericsson, the manufacturer that pioneered the development of smart phones unveiled the P1 as the latest addition to its P - series range.

This is the most feature rich yet pocket sized smart phone, a complete mobile office with true multimedia features.

The P1 is a device as small as a standard phone, offering flexible ways to work. Its features include dual function keyboard - full alpha-numeric (e.g. QWERTY) text input combines with one hand phone usability, choice of text input method using handwriting and word completion, push email enabled including support for Exchange ActiveSync and Blackberry Connect, integrated WLAN and VoIP enabled, 3.2 Mega Pixel camera with business card scanner, large 2.6 touch screen with a transflective display that is easier to view in bright light conditions.

CEO of Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel, Suren J. Amarasekera said: "Mobitel was delighted in presenting the Sony Ericsson P1; the fifth generation P- series smart phone together with Sony Ericsson for the first time in Sri Lanka at Nuwara Eliya Golf tournament 2007 which complements our standpoint in rewarding our class of corporates that favours finesse and elegance."

According to the Head of Product Marketing at Sony Ericsson, Steve Walker, the Sony Ericsson P1 is an evolution of the Sony Ericsson P-series, as it pushes forward the best attributes of its predecessors. At the same time, there are significant improvements in designs, speed and battery performance.

Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications serves as the global communications market with innovative and feature rich mobile phones, accessories and PC-cards.

Established as a joint venture by Sony and Ericsson in 2001, with global corporate functions London, the company employs over 7,500 people worldwide.
