Vajira Gunawardena Exhibition of paintings

at Barefoot Gallery 29th August to 9th September:

A Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA degree) Institute of Aesthetic Studies, University of Kelaniya. Vajira Gunawardena has exhibited extensively since 1999 within group exhibitions and 2 of his cum solo exhibitions. He has also been a regular participant in many artist camps and workshops, community projects and services.

The artist has received prizes for his work submitted to competition and also won the National Youth Council in 1992.

His work is included in many collection both here and abroad.

 

 


Chamila Gamage's paintings

at Paradise Road galleries from 22nd August to 10th September:

Consist of pictures in oils executed in very sober colours an undergraduate (BFA) in sculpture from the


Artist Chamila Gamage

 university of visual and performing arts and works as a set-designer at Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation.

This is his 3rd solo exhibition though he had shown his work at group presentations since 2001. In 2001 the artist won first place at the world's AIDS Day poster competition held at the Alliance Franchise de Colombo.

"Commercial advertising which is ultimately paid for by the consumer, has succeeded in limiting and controlling the knowledge and entertainment available to the very same consumer. Therefore, knowledge and entertainment have become commercial advertisements.

The consumer is no longer certain about the division between scientific knowledge and commercial advertising." Above is the artist's thoughts on his present exhibition showing in Colombo.
