Give assurance to bring down CoL, Siyambalapitiya tells Ranil
by Deraniyagala Roving Corr.
"Even if the UNP assumes power it cannot bring down the
cost-of-living, nor the prices of essential food items. In 2004 the
price of a barrel of crude oil was 29 Dollars but it has now increased
to 80 Dollars.
With this price increase is it possible for any Government to reduce
the prices of food items or bring down the cost-of-Living" said Minister
of Inland Revuenue, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya told the media at his
Ruwanella Residence.
He said, Ranil Wickremesinghe spoke about the increasing
cost-of-Living, but can he assure that when a UNP Government is formed
whether it would be possible to bring down the cost-of-Living?
The UNP leader is misleading the masses on false promises to gain
power. He knows well that the Mahinda Chinthana is popular among the
poor. The UNP cannot replace the confidence of masses placed in
President Mahinda Rajapaksa those who joined the UNP will face political
disaster soon.
The people are waiting for President Rajapaksa to develop the
country. The UNP dissident group will endorse this as they are aware of
the development work undertaken by the UPFA Government which the UNP
failed to do while in power. The people are aware that the UNP cannot
come back to power, and assure people what they propose to do.
